Zero Waste

We’re working towards being a more sustainable festival. To help achieve this, visit the amazing volunteers at our illuminated Zero Waste stations around the park. Supported by NPDC, Sustainable Taranaki and Waste Management.

Check out the festival map for the location of these Zero Waste stations, which will be open every night of the festival.

Zero Waste Tips

  1. Use the right bins
Please visit our illuminated Zero Waste stations and find out which bin to use! These stations have bins for mixed recycling, compostable material, glass bottles and landfill waste.

  2. Pack a reusable picnic
When you’re packing your picnic, include reusable containers, plates, cups and cutlery. Bring a container or bag to take all food scraps and any rubbish home with you. If you’re picking up takeaways, head to a food business participating in the Bring It! campaign, who will pack your takeaways into your own clean container and may even give you a discount! See npdc.govt.nz/BringIt for the list of participating businesses.

  3. Go digital
We have everything you need on our website! Instead of asking for paper copies of the brochure or map, check out festivaloflights.nz. We also have amazing wayfinders around the park with all the info you need. So why not find one and take a picture for reference?
